SpicyIP is glad to announce that the International Trademark Association’s 2016 Ladas Memorial Award Competition is now open to students, professors and practitioners.
Sponsored by the law firm of Ladas & Parry LLP, the Ladas Competition was established in memory of outstanding practitioner and author, Stephen P. Ladas. The award is presented every year for the best student and professional paper. Award winners will be announced in early March 2016.
Eligibility:
Student Category
Eligible students must be enrolled as either full- or part-time law or graduate students. For students outside the United States, university enrollment is acceptable. The top two papers will be selected as award recipients.
Professional Category
Authors may be legal practitioners, business professionals and/or academics. No restrictions apply regarding level of experience or years in practice.
Topic: Trademark law or a matter that directly relates to or affects trademarks.
Deadline for submissions: Friday, January 8, 2016.
Prizes:
Student category winners will each receive U.S. $2,500 and a complimentary registration to the 2016 Annual Meeting.
The professional category winner will receive a complimentary registration to the 2016 Annual Meeting and a set of Stephen P. Ladas’s three-volume treatise, Patents, Trademarks, and Related Rights.
The winning papers will be considered for possible Publication in The Trademark Reporter (TMR), INTA’s legal journal. Publication will be subject to the TMR Committee’s editorial review and approval.
